Past Projects

Along with my own stereo, I have done a few installations for other people. I would like to showcase my work here for everyone in an attempt to share the knowlege I have gained in the process. Some of the installations I have done were rather complex. None the less, they got done and the result was excellent.

Danger Ranger

One of my most difficult projects was my brother's 1997 Ford Ranger. For those who have seen the inside of a Ranger extended cab, you may know what I mean. In the back of the cab, there is a small ledge that comes up from the floor about 5" and into the back wall. It is approximately 6" wide. This makes it very difficult to make a speaker box that fits nicely. Below are some pictures of the box.

This is one of two boxes. It was constructed out of 3/4" Medium Density Fiber (MDF) wood. It is held together with wood glue and a ton of screws. The inside is caulked with Liquid Nail. The Air Space is 1.5 cu ft. The covering is medium grey non-latex backed carpet.

To the left is the final installation. The amp rack was also built out of MDF. So it wouldn't slide around, we ran long bolts up through the top of the box from the inside. The amp rack has holes on either side that allows the bolts to come up through. Then we used wing nuts to hold it all together. Quite an ingenius idea by my brother. The Stereo features a JVC color display head unit, 12" Audiobahn subs, 800 watt audiobahn amp, and a Power Acoustik 4 channel amp. We don't know how many decibals it is but it is quite loud with the subs being directly behind the seats. The weakest component however is the subs. Replace them and we would probably increase about 5 db. My brother has his own website that you can check out more pictures of his truck. He has more details about the modifications that he has done.
